Madison Taylor The Artist and #BETHECAUSE - Founder at 15 years old

Maryland, USA

Madison Taylor is a 15 year old entrepreneur and fashion designer, with dreams and mindset that extend far beyond her 15 years. Her October initiative #BETHECAUSE raises awareness of breast cancer and aims to support a mother and daughter affected by this life-altering disease. Madison has created signature clothing pieces to further awareness and to make a bold fashion statement about the seriousness of breast cancer and its prevalence in many women’s lives.

Inspired by the goals set by Madison, Kebloom reached out to ask a few questions:

1) Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I’m Madison Taylor The Artist, fashion designer, business owner, creative director and the sole proprietor of Madison Taylor the Artist. At the age of 6, I was a commissioned artist. By the age of 12, I had founded many enterprises as vehicles towards my dream, which is to become a world renowned haute couture fashion designer.

“The ultimate goal is to find at least one mother and daughter [going through breast cancer] to reward.”

2) What is the name of your initiative?

I am here today to tell you about my #BETHECAUSE initiative, a reward program to reward mothers and daughters affected by breast cancer.

3)   Tell us a little bit about your #BETHECAUSE initiative.

I wanted to do something that brought about awareness for breast cancer. So, I created the #BETHECAUSE reward campaign. This involved building a workshop that I created, rewarding mothers and daughters affected by breast cancer for the month of October.

“I use designing to contribute to all these circumstances in the world. I hope that other young girls will take this and do something similar.”

4) What inspired #BETHECAUSE?

Today, I am wearing a design called Doris, from my #BETHECAUSE collection. Doris is the name of my great maternal grandmother. She was a double mastectomy survivor and a breast cancer warrior. I never met her but I wanted to reach out to women, mothers and daughters who share this experience.

5) What is the ultimate goal of #BETHECAUSE?

The ultimate goal is to find at least one mother and daughter to reward. You could be a daughter that has lost their mother or your grandmother. You could be a mother who is currently going through breast cancer, or a daughter who has a mother who is currently going through it. A list of details are in my bio on Instagram.

6) What advice do you have for other young entrepreneurs?

I would highly encourage other young girls to use their experiences for the greater good. Take what you know or what you don’t know, and make something out of it. Use your gift. For example, I use designing to contribute to all these circumstances in the world. I hope that other young girls will take this and do something similar.

…and anything else you’d like to add!

Make your health your first priority. Do not let COVID stop you. Focus on yourself, there has never been a better time. Don’t let things around you distract you. We have come too far to give up now.

Don’t forget - be smart and be, the cause.
